This course is designed to meet university, state, and community college English

requirements. It provides a balanced, unified program of instruction in language, literature, and composition,

engaging students in a sequence of developmental activities in listening, reading, speaking, writing, and

related thinking. Critical thinking skills and human understanding are expanded through reflective interaction

with major forms of literature.
